Councillors slam NRA over tunnel privatisation plan

The National Roads Authority has been slated after briefing Cork’s city councillors on contentious proposals to privatise the management of the Jack Lynch Tunnel.

Lord mayor Terry Shannon (Fianna Fáil) is to write to Transport Minister Leo Varadkar calling on him to intervene and reverse the NRA’s move.

However, a tender seeking expressions of interest to manage and maintain both the Jack Lynch Tunnel and the Dublin Port Tunnel is expected to be advertised within weeks.
