TDs and senators pay back €270k in excess expenses

TDs and senators had to pay back over €270,000 in excess expenses received last year, according to new figures.

Under the Oireachtas expenses system, TDs and senators receive a set monthly “Parliamentary Standard Allowance” (PSA) to cover expenses and travel costs.

At the end of the year, the Oireachtas analyses receipts and attendance records, and determines whether overpayments have been made.
