Town mourns as garda in shooting incident dies

The popular garda involved in a tragic shooting at the weekend has died at Kerry General Hospital.

Grief-stricken relatives had gathered at his bedside for a poignant prayer service in the hours leading up to his death late on Monday night.

The Garda Ombudsman’s Office confirmed early yesterday that Adrian Hickey, who had been based in Tralee, Co Kerry, had passed away.
