Three pay at least €30k in household charges

Environment Minister Phil Hogan has confirmed that three property owners have each paid between €30,000 and €40,000 as a result of the controversial €100 household charge.

The three own between 300 and 400 properties that were liable for the charge and Mr Hogan has stated that a further four property owners have paid between €20,000 and €30,000 with 29 paying between €10,000 and €20,000 in connection to the charge.

In a written Dáil response to Gerald Nash TD (Labour), Mr Hogan said in figures provided by the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA), a further 103 property owners have paid between €5,000 and €10,000.
