Thousands of jobs on hundreds of “shovel-ready” infrastructural projects could be created, if the Government secures agreement on an EU stimulus package, it has been claimed.

The CIF said Metro North along with the M20 Cork to Limerick motorway, Grangegorman DIT Campus, Thornton Hall Prison and other projects could begin construction within weeks, if the funding for growth measures was put in place.

The construction industry umbrella group’s director general Tom Parlon said CIF was aware of projects all over the country that would fit in perfectly with the criteria being discussed for the stimulus package.
