GP to take on hundred of patients

Another doctor is expected to formally take over the care of the hundreds of medical card patients who are without healthcare after their GP closed his practice suddenly last week.

It’s believed the HSE will announce today that another GP from the north side of Cork city will be offering medical services to Dr David Murphy’s medical card list. Private patients of Dr Murphy can transfer to any GP they wish.

It’s understood the Primary Care Unit of the HSE will liaise with Dr Murphy about accessing his patient files, as it is normal practice the locum GP would have access to patient history.
