Concern for addicts as GP closes surgery

Hundreds of medical card patients on the northside of Cork City and its environs received letters from the HSE today informing them that their GP’s surgery has closed.

Concern for addicts as GP closes surgery

Dr David Murphy informed the HSE on Friday that he was closing his practice temporarily as he needed to take sick leave. A locum will not replace him at the Cathedral Road practice.

His patients, some of whom have particular medication requirements, including prescription drug addictions, have been asked to attend other GPs in the area. Other GPs on the northside of the city, despite already heavy workloads, have agreed with the HSE to take on Dr Murphy’s patient list.
