Indie music fest worth €1.5m to town
The organisers of Indiependence are expecting up to 5,000 revellers to descend on the north Cork town for what they say will be “the strongest line-up of bands they’ve ever had”, including some firm favourites on the Irish and European festival scene.
The event will be held from Aug 3-5 at the town’s Deer Farm and will feature international acts such as Scroobius Pip, Feeder, and LTJ Bukem.
They will join a growing Irish contingent at this year’s festival, including Maverick Sabre, The Frank and Walters, Jape, The Minutes, Japanese Popstars, Delorentos, Bressie, Royseven, and Ham Sandwich.
The organisers say new additions this year include the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Introducing stage, which will give new Irish acts the opportunity to play at an internationally renowned festival.
A new family campsite will feature this year in a quiet, tree-lined area of Deer Farm.
Indiependence 2012 also continues to support great new Cork music, and some of the artists on this year’s bill include Hush War Cry, Reid, Slow Motion Heroes, and Dead School.
“We have lots more announcements to make in the coming weeks and you can stay tuned to latest developments on Indiependence 2012 on our brand new website, www.indiependencefestival.com, which has just gone live,” a festival spokeswoman said.
* Ticket for the event are available from €79.
