Indie music fest worth €1.5m to town

A major music festival planned for Mitchelstown, Co Cork, in August is expected to swell the town’s coffers by up to €1.5m.

The organisers of Indiependence are expecting up to 5,000 revellers to descend on the north Cork town for what they say will be “the strongest line-up of bands they’ve ever had”, including some firm favourites on the Irish and European festival scene.

The event will be held from Aug 3-5 at the town’s Deer Farm and will feature international acts such as Scroobius Pip, Feeder, and LTJ Bukem.
