In the absence of a formal invitation, an enterprising Kerry restaurateur took it upon himself to roll out the welcome mat for Prince William and Kate Middleton by devising a special Taste of Ireland menu to whet their appetites.

And he could have been knocked over with a polite royal wave when they wrote back to confirm that a visit to Ireland is definitely on their agenda.
