A poll showing poor approval ratings for the Government is proof that austerity is “not working”, according to Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams.

However, Taoiseach Enda Kenny played down the findings, saying the Government had a job to do and the only poll that mattered was the general election.

The Ipsos MRBI poll showed just 23% of people were satisfied with the Government — down 14 points since October.
