Confusion over whether supplies will be turned off

Confusion surrounded whether people who failed to pay for water metering would have their supplies cut off after Enda Kenny refused to rule it out.

The Taoiseach was vague on the emotive issue after being questioned by Sinn Féin’s Mary Lou McDonald as the Government was again accused of failing to present a coherent policy on water charges.

“In respect of people being cut off... these are all matters for discussion about how the system is actually going to work,” Mr Kenny told TDs during leader’s questions.
