Ministers claimed over €250,000 in mileage and subsistence claims in their first full year in office, with junior minister John Perry having the highest level of expenses.

The minister of state with responsibility for small business claimed an average of €2,600 a month in mileage between Apr 2011 and Mar 2012, bringing his expense claims to €33,306.

Environment Minister Phil Hogan claimed over €5,200 in expenses last September despite his official diary showing he had just one week of engagements the previous month.
