A judging panel in a schools’ science competition in east Cork has described the entries as “inspiring and innovative”.

The remarks came as Glanmire Community College was crowned the winner of Merck Millipore School Science competition 2012 with a team project entitled SERC — Turbine Sustainable Energy Road Converting.

Expert judges praised the winning team’s scientific knowledge and engineering skills and were impressed with the ingenuity of the invention.
