Noonan reveals German bonds as minister interests declared

Ministers have declared properties, shares and holiday homes as part of their annual declaration of interests for 2011.

Finance Minister Michael Noonan said he sold German government bonds that he held last year. He also declared one upgrade on a transatlantic flight with Aer Lingus.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny, apart from his home in Mayo, has declared an office with overhead apartment in Castlebar and an apartment in Dublin, as well as six acres of farmland at Straun, Raheens. He is also an honorary member of the K Club golf course.

Environment Minister Phil Hogan lists himself as a director of an auctioneer in Kilkenny. He does not list his apartment in Portugal. However, he is not obliged to list the possession of a holiday home.

Justice Minister Alan Shatter has a range of property interests, according to the register, including in Florida and London, while Jobs Minister Richard Bruton has shares in AIB, Bank of Ireland and Irish Life & Permanent.

Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore jointly owns, with a brother, 37 acres of family farmland in Ballinasloe, Co Galway, which is let.

Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin lists under his land an office for his constituency secretary at Turners Cross, Cork.

Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams says he is a co-owner of a family home with his wife at Gortahork, Co Donegal.

In the Seanad, ex-president Mary McAleese’s husband, Dr Martin McAleese, has declared a shared interest in four properties, two in Dublin and two in Co Down.

Denis O’Donovan has five property interests that he declared he receives income from. Feargal Quinn has 46 shareholdings in firms ranging from financial institutions to Carluccio’s coffee shops.

Paddy Burke has two rental apartments in Carr Mills, Leeds — where Brian Cowen has listed property holdings in the past — and two others in Nottingham.

Paul Coughlan listed Bank of Ireland shares and a number of letting properties.
