The head of a leading dog welfare charity has urged the Cork Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to make a decision soon on a takeover proposal.

Dogs Trust, Ireland’s largest dog welfare charity, confirmed last night it was still waiting for a response from the CSPCA on an offer to take over the operation of its facility at Mahon.

“We are disappointed with the delay in receiving a response from the CSPCA committee regarding our proposal,” said Dogs Trust executive director Mark Beazley.
