Man alleges sex assault in national park

Gardaí in Killarney, Co Kerry, are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a young man in the town on Saturday night.

The incident took place in the Demense area of Killarney National Park and close to the town centre, at around 11pm. The man was taken to the sexual assault unit of Cork University Hospital for examination.

The scene, which is close to a children’s playground and within 300m of St Mary’s Cathedral, was cordoned off yesterday for forensic examination.
