An exclusive world-premiere of acclaimed new TV series Titanic was screened for a select audience in Cobh over the weekend — in the very building where the ship’s last passengers boarded before it set out on its ill-fated maiden voyage.

As part of the Titanic100 Cobh 2012 series of commemorative events, 200 guests from the town were invited to view the first two episodes in advance of its airing on TV3 last night.

The impressive £11m (€13.2m) series was made by Oscar-winning script writer Julian Fellowes, of Downton Abbey fame, and consists of four episodes, each one taking a different point of view from various passenger families on the ship.
