Manhunt for gang of robbers

Gardaí will this morning resume a manhunt for a gang of three men on the run after allegedly carrying out a spate of burglaries in south Tipperary.

It is believed gardaí located up to three men in car in the Cahir area of Tipperary after incidents in New Inn, Golden and Cahir.

A chase ensued but the men, believed to be in their late teens or early 20s, escaped.

They were later seen driving the wrong way along the main Cork-Dublin motorway between Cahir and Mitchelstown.

The car, a black Volvo S60, was found abandoned at Cloughbreeda near the old Cahir bypass.

Garda search teams from Tipperary and north Cork began a search for the men, aided by the garda helicopter and dog teams.
