Just a fraction of parents concerned about their children accidently accessing illegal or upsetting content online have installed adequate software to block harmful material.

Parents slow to firewall harmful content

A survey by internet watchdog Hotline.ie found that while 67% of parents questioned said they were worried about what their children might come across while surfing online, only 37% of parents had installed software to block access to harmful or inappropriate sites.

The web watchdog even said parents should consider dual access services so as to monitor their children’s mobile phone use.
