Punters to gamble £35k a second at Cheltenham

A staggering £35,000 (€41,624) a second will be gambled in Cheltenham this week as tens of thousands of Irish punters make the annual racing pilgrimage across the Irish Sea.

With 27 races spread across four days, Ladbrokes has said the betting industry is braced for the biggest week of the racing calendar, with over £300m set to be wagered.

As always, the Irish are set to be leading the charge as racing gets under way today.
