A man conned two people into parting with their money by selling them non-existent All-Ireland tickets and an Apple iPhone online.

Judge Mary Fahy said it was very hard to blame Eoin Maughan, aged 34, of 39 Innishannagh Park, Galway, when he could see how easy it was to get money out of people like that.

“A fool and his money is easily parted. Why buy a phone [over the internet] when you can buy one in a shop? He is living on his wits and is looking out for foolish types of people,” the judge said.
