Helena keeps itall under wraps

Iconic supermodel Helena Christensen arrived fashionably late and fully clothed in Dublin yesterday to launch her new lingerie line.

Curiosity got the better of some of the male photographers waiting in Brown Thomas who asked the organisers what Helena would be wearing for the launch.

They tried not to look too disappointed when told she would be wearing a dress. “Ah, she’d look good in a bin bag,” said one snapper as he furiously polished his camera lens.

Not only is Helena the ambassador to the Triumph Essence collection, she is the designer and at the age of 42 one of the models too, but not yesterday.

She was wearing samples to be added to her spring/summer collection but was keeping them under wraps.

Helena believes designing lingerie for women is really “a science” because of differences in body shape.

“So if you design something that is really rather small it still has to fit any body shape and make women feel comfortable from all angles.”

The woman who featured in some of the hottest ad campaigns and walked the world’s catwalks said she was not into wearing “constricting” underwear.

“So wires, padding or G-strings are not really my style,” said Helena, who said she wanted to create something that she felt comfortable with and that other women would want to wear.

She liked wearing larger, vintage-style lingerie because it was very flattering.

“I think it is more important, for me anyway, to look sensual and feel comfortable than looking obviously sexy, like I am forcing something.”
