Gardaí set to quiz journalist over alleged sex offence

Gardaí are preparing to question a prominent journalist in connection with an alleged sexual offence against an underage girl.

It is almost a year since the wife of the sports journalist reported the matter to gardaí, after their daughter discovered inappropriate photos on his mobile phone.

In what is a highly sensitive investigation, detectives said they will only interview the journalist when they believe he is mentally and physically capable of being questioned.
