Madonna confirms Dublin date for world tour

Fresh from her widely praised Superbowl performance in front of a worldwide audience of 100m, Madonna is to play the Aviva Stadium in Dublin as part of her upcoming world tour.

The capital is one of 26 European cities where the pop superstar will perform, along with shows in the US, South America, Australia and Canada. Madonna 2012 World begins on May 29 in Tel Aviv, Israel, before hitting Ireland on July 24.

Her previous tour, the phenomenally successful “Sticky & Sweet” Tour reaffirmed her status as one of the most successful touring artists of all time.

Arthur Fogel, chief executive of Live Nation Entertainment Global Touring and Madonna tour promoter, said he was thrilled to have the star back on the road.

“Madonna’s track record as a world-class entertainer and touring artist speaks for itself,” he said. “Her artistry, talent and creative productions get bigger and better with each tour.”

Shows are being planned for arenas, stadiums and special outdoor sights, including the Plains of Abraham in Quebec. It will be the first time she has played South America and Australia in 20 years.

Irish tickets go on sale on Friday, Feb 17 at 8am priced from €54.65 to €141.
