Vatican envoy welcomed

The Vatican’s new ambassador to Ireland, papal nuncio Archbishop Charles John Brown, has taken up residence in Dublin. He was welcomed by Cardinal Sean Brady and Archbishop Diarmuid Martin.

The New York-born cleric, who has been attached to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, was ordained an archbishop this month by Pope Benedict.

A major issue on the horizon for him is the prospect of a visit by the Pope this year after an invitation by the bishops.
