Half of web users careless on privacy

Fewer than half of internet users think about the potential impact of their online activity on their or other people’s reputation, research by Microsoft has found.

Microsoft surveyed 5,000 people in the US, Canada, Germany, Spain and Ireland to find out how careful they were about what they looked at and posted online.

Just 44% said they actively think about the potential consequences of what they reveal on the internet, though on a more positive note the figure was 49% in Ireland and Germany.
