Two Dáil members have called for an inquiry after a whistleblowing mental health worker claimed she was sacked.

Louise Bayliss, who acted as an advocate for patients at various hospitals around Dublin, spoke out after discovering female patients at St Brendan’s Psychiatric Hospital in Grangegorman, Dublin, were being moved to a “lock up” ward over Christmas.

The separated mother of two, who also voiced her concerns on RTÉ’s Liveline, has had her six-month contract cut short by the Irish Advocacy Network (IAN), which is part-funded by the Health Service Executive.
