Search of Glandore wreck fails to yield bodies

NO BODIES were found aboard the wreckage of the Tit Bonhomme, as sea conditions eventually allowed Naval and Garda divers to search the trawler five days after it sank off West Cork.

Search of Glandore wreck fails to yield bodies

Irish Coast Guard co-ordinator Gerard O’Flynn said it was “a significant day” for search and rescue teams and efforts today and tomorrow to find three missing fishermen will focus around the vessel and in areas where large amounts of debris have been detected. Shallow and awkward parts of Glandore Bay will also be targeted. It also emerged that the boat’s wheelhouse was sheared off in the incident that led to it sinking early on Sunday morning.

On Thursday, the bodies of Kevin Kershaw, 21, and Attia Shaban, 26, were recovered. Michael Hayes, Wael Mohamad and Saied Aly Eldin are still missing.
