Kenny: No decision on referendum
The Taoiseach dismissed reports he planned to use next week’s euro crisis summit to tell fellow EU leaders whether Ireland would need to trigger the vote or not.
As the final draft of the proposed inter-government treaty intended to bring about closer fiscal union would not be arrived at until the summit at the earliest, Mr Kenny said he could not formally seek the Attorney General’s advice on whether a referendum would be needed until after the wording was agreed.
