REHAB is facing an estimated €600,000 bill in back-pay arising from a dispute with 750 of its members over a pay cut.

This follows a Labour Court ruling recommending that Rehab reimburse the 750 workers the balance from eight months of a pay cut, imposed by the disability organisation without proper consultation with SIPTU in February 2010.

SIPTU health organiser Louise O’Reilly said last night the recommendation “thoroughly vindicates our stance that the pay cut was preemptive and unnecessary. Rehab did not have to impose the cut, there were alternatives”.
