Model’s brother faces trial for cannabis possession
Damien Gilson, aged 35, with an address at Raglan Road, Dublin, has been accused of driving “under the influence of an intoxicant” to such an extent he was incapable of having proper control of a vehicle, at Diswellstown Road, Dublin, and dangerous driving at the Phoenix Park, on September 8, 2010.
He faces three further charges of unlawful possession of cannabis at Blanchardstown Garda Station and at Diswellstown Road, on the same date.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and was due to face a hearing at Dublin District Court on January 6. On that date, the arresting garda and several prosecution witnesses had come to give evidence. However, Mr Gilson turned up late, by which time a warrant was issued for his arrest.
It was subsequently cancelled and Mr Gilson appeared again at the district court yesterday but was not required to speak.
Judge John O’Neill heard that a new hearing date was required and the state would be calling seven witnesses.
The judge ordered that Mr Gilson’s district court trial would take place on March 13 next.
In March last year, the Gilson Motor Company Ltd was wound up by the High Court after racking up more than €140,000 in unpaid taxes. TV presenter and model Ms Gilson and her brother, Damien, had been listed as directors of the firm.
