GARDAÍ have appealed for a missing prison officer to contact his family and let them know he is safe and well.

Prison officer John Gilmore went missing from his home in Cobh, Co Cork, last Monday and members of his family and a number of locals joined in searches for him around the town.

However, the search has switched from the locality since gardaí received information that the 51-year-old was seen at Kent Station at about 7.30pm that day and may have boarded a train to Dublin.
