Geldof baby on the way

MODEL and television presenter Peaches Geldof is “thrilled” at news she is pregnant with her first child.

The 22-year-old daughter of Bob Geldof and Paula Yates, who recently got engaged to rocker Thomas Cohen. shocked celeb-watchers in recent months after dramatic weight loss. She has insisted that it was purely down to cutting out junk food and eating better generally.

However, the focus was squarely on good news yesterday. Her spokeswoman said: “Peaches Geldof and her fiance Thomas Cohen are delighted to announce that Peaches is pregnant with their first child. Peaches is utterly thrilled and they have the full support of both of their families who are equally excited for the baby’s arrival.”

Geldof has grown up in the glare of the celebrity limelight, but while press interest has tended to focus on her penchant for partying, she has carved out a niche presenting youth TV programmes, including Peaches Geldof: Teenage Mind and A Beginner’s Guide To Islam.

The socialite divorced rock musician Max Drummey in 2009 after a six-month marriage. The pair married in a drive-in ceremony in Las Vegas after a 10-day romance.

Her mother, Paula Yates, died from an accidental heroin overdose in 2000 at the age of 40.

Yates had split from Bob Geldof five years earlier following an affair with INXS frontman Michael Hutchence.
