Nazi and nuclear war fears found in Met Éireann files
The papers reveal efforts to protect weather reports from the Nazis, naturalise staff members who could face prosecution had the Germans won the Second World War and to ensure the protection of weather stations against nuclear fallout.
Released by the National Archives, the files date back to wartime and were maintained in such secrecy that it is believed staff at Met Éireann’s Glasnevin headquarters were not allowed to see them.
