Actions against homeowners over unpaid utility bills halve

COURT actions against households with unpaid utility bills have halved in the past two years, according to figures released yesterday.

The average amount awarded against errant householders has also fallen dramatically.

However, utility companies are slow to respond more effectively to customers in arrears and are still taking too many court actions, according to Vision-net, a business intelligence analyst.
