RTÉ report findings to be withheld until March

RTÉ may not make public the findings of two investigations into the Prime Time “A Mission to Prey” programme before March.

It had been expected that RTÉ had wanted to publish the outcome of the internal probe by its director general Noel Curran and a separate investigation by Press Ombudsman Professor John Horgan after presentations by both to the RTÉ board yesterday.

However, in a statement following that meeting, a spokesman said it had acceded to a formal request by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland that RTÉ keep its findings confidential until the authority’s own statutory enquiry is completed early next year.
