Irish relations with Britain in danger, says analyst

IRELAND would lose one of its closest allies in the EU if Britain stepped further outside the group, Enda Kenny has made clear.

The Government will be hoping British Prime Minister David Cameron will find a way of maintaining and repairing the country’s often fraught relationship with Brussels over the coming months.

The Taoiseach, who sat beside Mr Cameron during the summit, described him as a “very strong supporter of the single market and our strongest neighbour”, and this was the main issue the two men spoke of on the margins of the meeting.
