NRA pays €4m a year pursuing M50 tolls

THE National Roads Authority (NRA) spends up to e4 million every year pursuing drivers who have failed to pay tolls on the M50.

It is understood there are about 2,000 main repeat offenders, most of whom owe between €5,000 and e10,000. However, a handful owe over €50,000.

Figures released by the NRA show that, despite the cost of pursuing enforcement orders, the penalties collected as a result amount to approximately double this figure every year.
