Households ‘already past tipping point’

HOUSEHOLDS which have “already passed the tipping-point” and exist with inadequate incomes will be the worst off after this year’s budget, which has been branded “unjust and perverse”.

Households ‘already past tipping point’

The St Vincent de Paul strongly criticised the budget, highlighting that income will fall short by almost €6,000 next year for households with two children in urban areas, where one is a teenager of second-level age and the second of primary-school age, dependent on social welfare.

The SVP said groups which will be most adversely affected are families with school-going children, one parent families, families on social welfare or in work and the low paid in private rented accommodation.
