Illusionist Barry to cast his spell on pregnant wife instead of epidural
The Waterford magician and his wife Mairead are expecting their second child this month.
But Keith, a skilled hypnotist, plans to put his wife into a trance during labour to make the birth as painless as possible.
The talented star, who has a three-year-old daughter, Breanna, with Mairead, said a hypnobirth would remove the need for an epidural.
However, he admitted the major hurdle will be to persuade his heavily pregnant partner to let him hypnotise her.
He said yesterday: “Think I’m gonna convince the wife to forget about the epidural and hypnobirth this baby out.
“Yeah — my latest experiment is the preggers wife.”
However, the performer won’t have much time at home with his wife and the new arrival before he hits the stage again.
Early next year he’s bringing his acclaimed 8 Deadly Sins tour back on the road on what will be his biggest nationwide tour to date.
He said: “I can always spend the day at home and jump in the car for whatever gig I have that night, so it won’t be too bad. Once I’m in the country, that’s all that matters.
“I love touring. It’s my favourite part of what I do.”
The workaholic magician is also busy fine-tuning his vast repertoire of trickery ahead of working alongside some of Hollywood’s top stars for a new movie.
He is teaming up with actorsMorgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Woody Harrelson and Jessie Eisenberg to ensure the illusions in the film Now You See Me are as real as possible.
The movie, scheduled for release in 2013, revolves around a group of illusionists who are being hunted by the FBI for a series of bank robberies.
He said: “They want to keep all the mentalism and hypnotism as real-life as they can, so that’s why they’ve hired me”
