Defence set to be cut by €4m

The department already saw a €40m cut from 2010 to 2011.

According to the Government’s budget plan, savings will be realised through the further shedding of staff and other non-pay reductions. Together it is estimated that this will achieve €17m in savings during 2012. These reductions will be “sustained” up until 2012.
