THE coalition’s first budget will be scrutinised over the coming days but what is clear at this stage is that certain cuts differ from Fine Gael and Labour proposals when in opposition ahead of the last budget.

Labour will get it in the neck, with accusations of U-turns and failures to implement cost-saving measures as promised when on the opposition benches.

And today, Fine Gael are expected to implement some pledges it made in its alternative budget plan in December 2010.
