SOCIAL class and the extent of the mother’s education have a bearing on the time of night a child is put to bed, how long they sleep and whether they share the parental bed.

The study found by the age of nine months, most infants are sleeping in their own bed or cot and they typically get 10.5 hours sleep a night, although the majority still wake occasionally.
