Wages will not change in budget, says Varadkar

WAGES will remain the same after the budget, a Government minister has said, as he downplayed fears about the impact of the €3.8 billion fiscal correction.

Transport Minister Leo Varadkar suggested the budget “may not be as bad as people expect” even as Taoiseach Enda Kenny was warning it would be “tough on everyone”.

Mr Varadkar said that because of the Government’s commitment not to raise income taxes, people’s pay would remain at current levels after the budget.
