Ministers give themselves right to use bus lanes

CABINET colleagues ganged up on Transport Minister Leo Varadkar to force through legal changes allowing them to use bus lanes in their official cars, it emerged last night.

Mr Varadkar effectively admitted he had been out-gunned by fellow ministers in a move that saw the perk sneaked through parliament last month.

“There are different views at Cabinet on lots of different issues, but no matter what your own view may be you have to abide by the Cabinet decision.
