Organised by local drugs task forces and Cork City Partnership, the aim of the week is to raise awareness so that communities, families and professionals know where to go for assistance or information on drug and alcohol services.
All of the events — except a play at the Half Moon Theatre — are free.
The play, Cracking Lives, tells the story of a family being torn apart as a result of addiction. The play is organised by the Ballyphehane Action For Youth Project and the HOPE Family Support Group.
Today, a conference on the problematic use of benzodiazepines in Ireland will take place, while on Saturday, an information session for teenagers with guest appearances by local Cork Rappers Boney & GMC, DJs and hip hop dancers Ultraflex, will be held at Cubin’s Complex on Hanover St.
For further details on any of the events, contact Mella Magee or Jackie Daly at Cork City Partnership on (021) 4302310 or log onto www.corkdruginfo.ie.
