Woman gets 4 years in prison after selling girl for sex
The 64 year old took his life three days after gardaí began investigating the case.
Remilekun Thomas, aged 39, of Fortlawn Park, Blanchardstown, admitted two charges of using a child for sexual exploitation in Dublin in May 2008.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard the man paid €50 for sex with the girl at least six times at his home and at another location.
Det Gda John Small said the deceased man admitted meeting the girl a number of times and paying her €50 to €100 for sex each time.
These meetings continued until the girl’s mother found out and alerted gardaí, who arrested Thomas on a charge of organising prostitution.
Thomas came to Ireland from Nigeria legally in 2000 and had three children here. In 2005 she became addicted to crack cocaine and turned to prostitution to “feed her habit”.
Judge Patrick McCartan said her crimes were “particularly disturbing” given the fact she is a mother.
