Week-long focus on drugs awareness

MUSIC, drama, coffee mornings and information events are taking place across Cork city as part of Drug Awareness Week 2011.

Week-long focus on drugs awareness

Organised by local drugs task forces and Cork City Partnership, the aim of the week is to raise awareness so that communities, families and professionals know where to go for assistance or information on drug and alcohol services.

All of the events — except a play at the Half Moon Theatre — are free. The play, Cracking Lives, tells the story of a family being torn apart as a result of addiction and who are desperately trying to stay together.

Other events include Choices, a free concert with John Spillane, Hank Wedel, The Dizzy Blues Band, Cork Rapper GMC, and others. Hosted by Cork Local Drugs Task Force it takes place at the Metropole Hotel tonight.

Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
