Homeowners warned to beware of fuel siphoning

GARDAÍ have warned homeowners to be extra-vigilant following a surge in the purchase of fuel siphoning kits.

They believe some criminal gangs are preparing to carry out a wave of thefts of heating oil and diesel from homes and farmyards.

Gardaí are warning homeowners, especially those living in rural areas, to take extra precautions to protect fuel tanks as high energy prices are making the theft of heating oil more lucrative for gangs.
