Three held in burglary probe

GARDAÍ have questioned three men in connection with a spate of burglaries carried out by thieves impersonating gardaí, HSE and ESB workers in the west Waterford area.

A number of the burglaries, which took place in the Dungarvan, Ring, Tallow and Ardmore areas, involved thefts from elderly people who were kept talking by bogus callers whose accomplices then slipped in through the rear of their homes and stole valuables.

A file will now be prepared for the DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions).
